St. Andrew’s Shield “...above all taking the Shield of Faith ...” Ephesians 6:16 Volume 51, Number 14 July 26, 2006
From the Pastors Heart The past three Sundays have been exciting! God is truly “doing a new thing” in our midst. We can feel the new energy in our gatherings, and hear the possibilities in our conversations. You’ll find all of our thoughts, feelings and ideas on the back of the calendar. When the Little Light House first asked if we might be interested in selling them our property, and expressed their belief that God was asking them to expand, I wondered aloud if God was speaking to us, too. I am now convinced that God is speaking to both of us! It would be wonderful if God could help us and the Little Light House work together to create the best possible space for both of us on this corner. We will certainly talk with them about it. God speaks to us through scripture, through prayer, and through each other. While we are waiting for “the next right answer,” read your Bibles and pray! Reading and praying together! Pastor Ann
Cotton Patch Gospel, here and there. Tulsa Repertory Musicals will be presenting Cotton Patch Gospel this August with two opportunities for audiences to hear the bluegrass retelling of the greatest story every told. Friday, August 25, will find Matthew and all the other characters from this particular book of the Bible onstage at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. Saturday, August 26, the cast will move up the turnpike to the Coleman Theatre in Miami, Oklahoma and share a toe-tappin’, foot-stompin’ evening of music and old-fashioned story telling. Cotton Patch Gospel will be performed at 7:30 pm both evenings, August 25 and 26. This program is St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and the Tulsa Repertory Musicals fund raiser for our adopted school Waite Phillips.
Dear St. Andrew’s, Thank you so much for the use of the chairs for our 2005-2006 school year graduation. It is difficult to see our little ones go, but know that God has future plans for them. God Bless, The Little Light House
Dear Church Family, I wanted to express my gratitude for the Bible. It is very important to me to stop and take plenty of time reading and praying, even when things get quite hectic. Thanks! Edwin Lee
Mariners News Ever wonder what a wine nerd means by "bouquet"? Learn the answer and more when you attend a Wine Tasting presentation at Beverly Clark's home August 4 at 6:30 sponsored by The Mariners. You may think you have been transported to Napa Valley, but it will actually be one of the dozens of local Oklahoma wineries. The winery folks will bring samples of all the wines they make for us to sample and learn about. Mariners need only bring light snacks which will blend with wine. See you at Bev's house!
The next Shield will be published on August 9th.
Articles are needed in the Church Office no later than Monday morning, August 7th.

Children’s Ministry News: Swim-a-thon successful!! Many St. Andrew’s children (of all ages!) braved the heat and came out in support of the Children’s Ministry Swim-a-thon on Sunday, June 16. Ten ARK kids were joined by about 20 adults. From the look and sound of things, a great time was had by all! Many, many thanks go to Jeanne and Norm Hollis for sharing their pool and opening their home to us. Thanks, too, to all who brought or donated food for this event. The children are collecting pledges. We would like to have all money collected by the end of the month. (Please make checks payable to St Andrews, with the note ARK Mission Project on the memo line.) Thanks again for your enthusiasm and generous support of our children!
A.R.K. Summer Mission Efforts This summer, our children are working to raise money to send “living water” to our brothers and sisters in Christ living in Malawi, Africa. Funds will go to provide a shallow water well and Bibles translated into Chitumbuka (one of the main languages spoken in rural Malawi). Our goal is to raise at least $600 ($300 for the shallow well/$300 for Bibles). To do that, we are having a series of mission fund raising projects, one for each summer month. During the month of August, we are scheduled with Quick Trip to have a car wash at their 95th and Riverside store on Saturday, August 5! We bring the buckets, soap and towels, QT supplies the water. All proceeds go to our mission effort! We have use of their property from 10 AM – 3 PM. Please read through the following, check off the ways you will be able to help, tear off the form and place it in the offering plate or drop it by the church office.
