St. Andrew’s Shield

“...above all taking the Shield of Faith ...”   Ephesians 6:16

Volume 52, Number 6                                                                                                    March 28, 2007

From the Pastor’s Heart

My heart is bursting with pride and excitement!  The overwhelming approval of the congregation to accept The Little Light House’s offer to buy our property has made it possible for us to set out on this next leg of our journey with God!

One hundred people attended worship; sixty-three of them were members on our Active Rolls.  All sixth-three voted: 62 “yes” and 1 “no.”  Several “regulars” were out of town or tending to sick family and could not attend, but they had indicated they would have voted “yes” if they could have been present.

The reports were well-done.  The questions asked and concerns voiced were thoughtful.  The responses were considerate.  This is the source of my pride!  You have all done a great job of working and praying your way through these last  8+ months.  Special appreciation was given to the Focus Team for their work.

Although I know God appears throughout history to guide the people into the future, seldom have I been so aware of God’s presence as I have been throughout this process!  God was there, ringing the doorbell, even before I knew there was someone at the door.  Matthew 6:8 has come alive in a new way for me: “Your Father knows what you need before you ask.”  I can hardly wait to experience what comes next!

Journeying with God together!

NEWS from the PEWS!

Dalton Baumann’s basketball team, the Shockers, finished their season with a perfect 8-0 record.  Congratulations!

Roger and Marylyn Baumann recently returned from a trip to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon and upon their return their co-travelers from Illinois stayed as house guests.

The home of Lee and Joyce Pauli "rocked and rolled" last weekend, filled will grown children and young grandchildren in town for the baptism of baby granddaughter Jacqi.  What a wonderful celebration!

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY is hosting the Second Annual Easter Egg Decorating Party on Sunday, April 1 from 5-6PM (following St. Andrews' Singers). All children and their friends are invited to come and decorate eggs. Children's Ministry will provide the dye and decorating supplies. Families just need to send each child with a dozen already hard boiled eggs. Please contact Ruth Wilcox or any CMT member with any questions, and plan to come and have a great time!

EARLY LEARNING CENTER

The Early Learning Center is now enrolling for the summer.  It will start on June 12 and end on August 2.  We are expecting a fun and successful summer.  If you are interested, please contact the director at 627-9600.

The Spring Concert and Graduation for ELC will be May 17th beginning at 9:45 a.m. in the sanctuary.

Spring Break begins on May 24 with the summer program resuming on June 12.

HEALING STORIES

We are about to celebrate the greatest healing story the world has ever heard – the story of healing the broken relationship between God and humanity.  Jesus healed that brokenness in the way he lived his life.  God validated that healing by raising him from the dead.  Healing is probably the most important activity we Christians can accomplish.  We read the healing stories in the Gospels and wonder how Jesus did it!  If you have any personal healing stories, or if you want to know more about one of the healing miracles Jesus provided, let me know so I can include it in the series of sermons after Easter. Thanks!

                                                                                    Pastor Ann

The congregation joins in expressing sympathy to the family of Richard Sullivan, who died March 12.  A Memorial Service celebrating his life will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, in the Auditorium of University Village (8555 S. Lewis).
