St. Andrew's Shield

“...above all taking the Shield of Faith ..”   Ephesians 6:16

Volume 52, Number 1                                                                                    January 10, 2007

From the Pastor’s Heart

“So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and increased in numbers daily.”   Acts 16:5

Commit this verse to memory!  These words will become increasingly important as the years move on.  The Chapter and Verse (Acts 16:5) form the title of a new direction in Presbyterian growth.  An exciting opportunity to learn more about it comes February 2 and 3, when Stan Ott leads a two-day seminar at the Bernsen Center.  Our Session voted to send participants to learn more about a process of congregational transformation, one that will simultaneously serve our congregation itself and reach throughout Tulsa.

Space is limited, and we have a few people in mind already.  But we don’t want to leave someone out who feels God might be leading them in that direction.  If you want more information let me know.

Transforming together!

Pastor Ann

 NEWS from the PEWS!

Roger & Marylyn Baumann recently returned from travels to South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Highlights were:  stops at Disney theme parks, visiting with Marylyn's brother in Estero, and visiting a long time friend of Roger's in the Tampa area.

Richard and Pastor Ann have been enjoying a month long visit from Richard's son, Clint Wilson, who lives with his wife in Mercedes, Uruguay, South America.  Clint is a social worker there, and only returns home every three years.

PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN

Women in the church should mark your calendars for PW Cluster meeting at First Presbyterian Church in Broken Arrow on March 24; Spring Gathering at First Presbyterian on April 21.

More info later.

Thank you to all Mariners and church members that helped make three kids a perfect Christmas.  The gifts were wrapped and delivered December 21.  The father was given a camera to record the joy and excitement.  As soon as we get the pictures back, we will share them with the membership.

Messages of Thanks….

Thank you so much for the gift basket.  My friends and I really enjoyed it, especially with finals going on.

Thank you,

Whitney Breshears

Dear Friends,

It is so nice to know people like you.  I know prayers and special care do make the difference.  My son and I both “thank you” from the bottom of our hearts.

Sincerely,

Karalee Metz

Pastor Ann,

May the Joy of the Christmas Season be with You all through the Year.

Love to all especially ones who go to see Wildah.

Marian and Don

If you have to miss worship on any given Sunday, you can find both the bulletin and the sermon on the web.  Webmaster, Emerson Parker, adds them to our website each week, and adds The Shield on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month.  Our address is www.standrewstulsa.org
