St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church lives to celebrate God’s love through worship, seek God’s truth through education, and share God’s gifts through mission and fellowship.  We encourage you to join us in the Fellowship Hall for a time of coffee, cookies and fellowship following the morning service.  All who profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are welcome to join St. Andrew's.  If you have no church home, we invite you to consider uniting with us as we seek to faithfully serve our Lord.  Speak to an usher or the Pastor at the close of the service to learn more.

*CALL TO WORSHIP

ALL:  (Hymn 66, refrain)  O star of wonder, star of night, Star with royal beauty bright; Westward leading, still proceeding, Guide us to they perfect light!

ONE:  Arise, shine, for your light has come.

ALL:  And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.

ONE:  Nations shall come to your light.

ALL:  And rulers to the brightness of your rising.

ONE:  Let us worship God.

*HYMN  22                       “Angels, from the Realms of Glory”

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON

God of glory, you sent Jesus among us as the light of the world, to reveal your love for all people.  We confess that our sin and pride hide the brightness of your light.  We turn away from the poor; we ignore cries for justice, we do not strive for peace.  In your mercy, cleanse us of our sin, and baptize us once again with your Spirit, that forgiven and renewed, we may show forth your glory shining in the face of Jesus Christ.

*SILENT PRAYER

*ASSURANCE OF GOD’S PARDON

*RESPONSE (Hymn 44, verse 4)

O holy Child of Bethlehem, Descend to us, we pray; Cast out our sin and enter in, Be born in us today.  We hear the Christmas angels The great glad tidings tell:  O Come to us, abide with us, Our Lord Emmanuel.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Phil 2:5-11)

Christ Jesus, though He was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness.  And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death – even death on a cross.  Therefore, God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the death, and every tongue confess to the glory of god:  Jesus Christ is Lord!  Amen.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.  Amen.
