ST. ANDREW'S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

WE WELCOME YOU TO OUR SERVICE OF WORSHIP THIS MORNING

St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church lives to celebrate God’s love through worship, seek God’s truth through education, and share God’s gifts through mission and fellowship. We encourage you to join us in the Fellowship Hall for a time of coffee, cookies and fellowship following the morning service. All who profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are welcome to join St. Andrew's. If you have no church home, we invite you to consider uniting with us as we seek to faithfully serve our Lord.  Speak to an usher or the Pastor at the close of the service to learn more.

BRINGING THE LIGHT OF CHRIST INTO THIS ROOM

*CALL TO WORSHIP

ALL:  (Hymn 138, verse 1)  Holy, holy, holy!  Lord God Almighty!  Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee; Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!  God in three Persons, blessed Trinity.

ONE:  My soul boasts about God; let everyone hear and be glad!

ALL:  Let us magnify the Lord; let us praise God’s name together.

ONE:  When we speak to God, God answers us; God frees us from all our fears.

ALL:  We are happiest when we take refuge in God.  Let us now turn all our thoughts toward God!                          (From Psalm 34)

*HYMN  464        “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee”

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON

O God, we realize how far we have fallen short of Your design for our lives.  We are lame when we could walk by faith; we are blind when we could seek Your truth; we crave self-fulfillment when we could choose to serve our neighbors.  We are in bondage to ourselves!  Release us from our self-imposed captivity, and turn us again to the path that Jesus walked.

*SILENT PRAYER

*ASSURANCE OF GOD’S PARDON

*GLORIA PATRI (Hymn 579)

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.

World without end! Amen, Amen.

HYMN  379                     “My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less”

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from A Brief Statement of Faith, 1991)

In life and in death we belong to God.  Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve.  We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God, [who] proclaimed the reign of God.  We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba, Father.  In sovereign love God created the world good and makes everyone equally in God’s image.  We trust in the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life.  With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER (Page 16, Traditional)

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.  Amen.
