BRINGING THE LIGHT OF CHRIST INTO THIS ROOM

*CALL TO WORSHIP

ALL:  (Hymn 138, verse 1)  Holy, holy, holy!  Lord God Almighty!  Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee; Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!  God in three Persons, blessed Trinity.

ONE:  Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth!  Sing to God and praise the Lord!

ALL:  Come and see what God has done; how awesome are God’s deeds!

ONE:  Bless the Lord, O peoples; let the sound of praise be heard.

ALL:  Truly God has listened; God has heard the words of our prayers.

ONE:  Let us set aside our preoccupations, and turn our thoughts to God.        (From Psalm 66)

O God, we come to You knowing our need to repent.  Disputes arise within congregations; brothers and sisters quarrel.  Hostility fractures the Body of Christ; conflict leads to suspicion and pain.  Forgive us, O God!  Help us let go of our grudges; reconcile us to our neighbors as You redeem us of our sin, in Jesus’ name.

In life and in death we belong to God.  Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve.  We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God, [who] proclaimed the reign of God.  We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba, Father.  In sovereign love God created the world good and makes everyone equally in God’s image.  We trust in the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life.  With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
