ST. ANDREW'S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

WE WELCOME YOU TO OUR SERVICE OF WORSHIP THIS MORNING

St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church lives to celebrate God’s love through worship, seek God’s truth through education, and share God’s gifts through mission and fellowship. We encourage you to join us in the Fellowship Hall for a time of coffee, cookies and fellowship following the morning service. All who profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are welcome to join St. Andrew's. If you have no church home, we invite you to consider uniting with us as we seek to faithfully serve our Lord.  Speak to an usher or the Pastor at the close of the service to learn more.

*CALL TO WORSHIP

ALL:  (Hymn 138, verse 1)  Holy, holy, holy!  Lord God Almighty!  Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee; Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!  God in three Persons, blessed Trinity.

ONE:  The place where God dwells is better than any other place!

ALL:  Those who come to God’s house are happy and always singing praises.

ONE:  One hour with God is better than a thousand elsewhere!

ALL:  Happy is everyone who trusts in God!                          (From Psalm 84)

*HYMN  420 (verses 1,3,4)     “God of Grace and God of Glory”

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON

O God, we need Your forgiveness!  We squander Your mercy when we abuse Your creation.  We slander our neighbors when we do not seek Your peace.  Nations rise up against nations, threats of terrorism fill the air, and those without hope find no relief.  We know Christ had compassion on all those who suffered, and we ask You to cleanse us of the sin that closes our hearts to our brothers and sisters.  Open us to the new possibilities You offer us in Christ Jesus!

            *SILENT PRAYER

            *ASSURANCE OF GOD’S PARDON

            *GLORIA PATRI (Hymn 579)

              Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;

              As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.

              World without end! Amen, Amen.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from A Brief Statement of Faith, 1991)

In life and in death we belong to God.  Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve.  We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God, [who] proclaimed the reign of God.  We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba, Father.  In sovereign love God created the world good and makes everyone equally in God’s image.  We trust in the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life.  With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
