BRINGING THE LIGHT OF CHRIST INTO THIS ROOM

*CALL TO WORSHIP

ALL:  (Hymn 138, verse 1)  Holy, holy, holy!  Lord God Almighty!  Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee; Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!  God in three Persons, blessed Trinity.

ONE:  Christ dwells in our hearts through faith; we are rooted and grounded in love.

ALL:  May we have the power to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge!

ONE:  We give thanks to the One who is able to accomplish far more than anything we can ask or imagine!

ALL:  Let us turn our full attention to God!                            (From Ephesians 3)

O God, as we come before you, we realize our sin.  We too often squander the blessings You bestow upon us; we yearn for the possessions that our neighbors enjoy; envy, greed and selfishness gnaw at us; satisfaction eludes us.  Quiet our longing for material riches, and help us to trust in Jesus, who provides all that we really need.

In life and in death we belong to God.  Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve.  We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God, [who] proclaimed the reign of God.  We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba, Father.  In sovereign love God created the world good and makes everyone equally in God’s image.  We trust in the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life.  With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
