ST. ANDREW'S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

WE WELCOME YOU TO OUR SERVICE OF WORSHIP THIS MORNING

St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church lives to celebrate God’s love through worship, seek God’s truth through education, and share God’s gifts through mission and fellowship. We encourage you to join us in the Fellowship Hall for a time of coffee, cookies and fellowship following the morning service. All who profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are welcome to join St. Andrew's. If you have no church home, we invite you to consider uniting with us as we seek to faithfully serve our Lord.  Speak to an usher or the Pastor at the close of the service to learn more.

BRINGING THE LIGHT OF CHRIST INTO THIS ROOM

*CALL TO WORSHIP

ALL:  (Hymn 138, verse 1)  Holy, holy, holy!  Lord God Almighty!  Early in the morning our song   shall rise to Thee; Holy, holy, holy!  Merciful and mighty!  God in three Persons, blessed Trinity.

ONE:  Out of the depths we cry to God!  God hears us, and listens to our concerns.

ALL:  If God kept records of our wrongs, we would never stand a chance!

ONE:  So we place our hope in God; we wait for God, more than those who watch for the morning.

ALL:  And God comes new to us each day, full of forgiveness and love.  For this next hour, we will turn our full attention to God!    (From Psalm 130)

*HYMN  482                   “Praise Ye the Lord, the Almighty”

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON

O God, we come in need of Your forgiveness!  You call us to excellence, yet we fall short of Your confidence in us.  You grant us grace, but we abuse Your gift.  You expect our decisions to match Your design for life; yet we look to our comfort rather than to our neighbor’s need.  In Christ, have mercy on us, and forgive our sin.  With our burden lifted, help us move forward to live in faith, in Jesus’ name!

            *SILENT PRAYER

            *ASSURANCE OF GOD’S PARDON

            *GLORIA PATRI (Hymn 579)

                Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.

                World without end! Amen, Amen.

* AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Page 14, Traditional)

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.  I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  Amen.
