ST. ANDREW'S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

WE WELCOME YOU TO OUR SERVICE OF WORSHIP THIS MORNING

St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church lives to celebrate God’s love through worship, seek God’s truth through education, and share God’s gifts through mission and fellowship. We encourage you to join us in the Fellowship Hall for a time of coffee, cookies and fellowship following the morning service. All who profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are welcome to join St. Andrew's. If you have no church home, we invite you to consider uniting with us as we seek to faithfully serve our Lord.  Speak to an usher or the Pastor at the close of the service to learn more.

Acolyte:  Mickey Ross

Children’s Church:  Ruth Wilcox

Ushers:  Betty Harper and Jan Talbott

Coffee Hosts:  Emile and Ray Tucker

*CALL TO WORSHIP

ALL:  (Hymn 138, verse 1)  Holy, holy, holy!  Lord God Almighty!  Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee; Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!  God in three Persons, blessed Trinity.  God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

ONE:  God’s name is above every name!

ALL:  God’s voice is powerful; God’s voice is impressive.

ONE:  God’s presence gives strength to the people!

ALL:  With the power and the strength that God gives us, we begin our worship.  Let us turn now to God!                          (From Psalm 29)

*HYMN  138     “Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!” (verses 2, 3 and 4)

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON

O Triune God, we acknowledge our confusion about You and the ways in which You work.  For centuries, people have fought about who You are and what You do.  We, too, become so caught up in the debate that we forget about the important issues.  Forgive us, we pray!  Help us to focus only on Jesus, and to concentrate on following where he leads, trusting in Your Spirit to guide us in the way we should go.

            *SILENT PRAYER

            *ASSURANCE OF GOD’S PARDON

            *GLORIA PATRI (Hymn 579)

                  Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.

                  World without end! Amen, Amen.

HYMN  442            “The Church’s One Foundation”

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (From The Second Helvetic Confession, 1566)

God is Three.  We believe and teach that the same immense, one and indivisible God is in person inseparably and without confusion distinguished as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, so, as the Father has begotten the Son from eternity, the Son is begotten by an ineffable generation, and the Holy Spirit truly proceeds from them both, the same from eternity, and is to be worshiped with both.  Thus there are not three gods, but three persons, consubstantial, co-eternal, and co-equal; distinct with respect to essence, and with respect to order, the one preceding the other yet without any inequality.  They are so joined together that they are one God, and the divine nature is common to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  (Paragraphs 5.016 and 5.017)

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER (Page 16, Traditional)

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy

kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.  Amen.
