ST. ANDREW'S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

WE WELCOME YOU TO OUR SERVICE OF WORSHIP THIS MORNING

St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church lives to celebrate God’s love through worship, seek God’s truth through education, and share God’s gifts through mission and fellowship. We encourage you to join us in the Fellowship Hall for a time of coffee, cookies and fellowship following the morning service. All who profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are welcome to join St. Andrew's. If you have no church home, we invite you to consider uniting with us as we seek to faithfully serve our Lord.  Speak to an usher or the Pastor at the close of the service to learn more.

Acolyte:  Joey Ross

Children’s Church:  Diana Henderson

Ushers:  Richard Wilson and Richard Balser

Coffee Hosts:  Jan and Bob Talbott

THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM

LITANY OF BAPTISM

ONE:  We are a people of the water!

ALL:  We worship God, whose love flows through water.

ONE:  Love, like a rain shower, awakens the sleeping seed within the soul and lures it to a blossom.

ALL:  We worship God, whose love flows through water.

ONE:  Love, like a hot shower after a long day’s work, cleanses us, reawakens us.

ALL:  We worship God, whose love flows through water.

ONE:  Love, like little drops, flows from hand to head. Through baptism, the Family of Faith makes room for more.

HYMN  498       “Child of Blessing, Child of Promise”

INTRODUCTION AND QUESTIONS

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (From A Brief Statement of Faith 1991)

In life and in death we belong to God.  Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel , whom alone we worship and serve.  We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God, [who] proclaimed the reign of God.  We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba, Father.  In sovereign love God created the world good and makes everyone equally in God’s image.  We trust in the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life.  With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

THE BAPTISM

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER (Page 16, Traditional)

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.  Amen.
