ST. ANDREW'S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

WE WELCOME YOU TO OUR SERVICE OF WORSHIP THIS MORNING

St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church lives to celebrate God’s love through worship, seek God’s truth through education, and share God’s gifts through mission and fellowship. We encourage you to join us in the Fellowship Hall for a time of coffee, cookies and fellowship following the morning service. All who profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are welcome to join St. Andrew's. If you have no church home, we invite you to consider uniting with us as we seek to faithfully serve our Lord.  Speak to an usher or the Pastor at the close of the service to learn more.

*CALL TO WORSHIP

ALL:  (Hymn 118, verse 3)  Now let the heavens be joyful, Let earth the song begin, Let the round world keep triumph, And all that is there in; Let all things seen and unseen Their notes of gladness blend, For Christ the Lord is risen, Our joy that hath no end.

ONE:  This is the message we have heard and proclaim to you, That God is light and in God there is no darkness at all.

ALL:  Behold, how good it is when brothers and sisters live together in unity.

ONE:  Let us worship God, expressing our unity and praising God’s name for bringing light to the world.

*HYMN  104                “Christ is Risen! Shout Hosanna!”

*LITANY OF AFFIRMATION AND ASSURANCE

ONE:  That which was from the beginning, which we have heard and seen with our eyes concerning the word of life, we proclaim to you.

ALL:  God of light, in whom there is no darkness, we praise you.

ONE:  The life was made manifest, and we testify to it.

ALL:  God of light, in whom there is no darkness, we praise you.

ONE:  If we say we have fellowship with God while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not live according to the truth.

ALL:  God of light, in whom there is no darkness, we praise you.

ONE:  If we confess our sins, Jesus Christ is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

ALL:  Jesus Christ is the expiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (From The Confession of 1967)

The reconciling act of God in Jesus Christ exposes the evil in people as sin in the sight of God.  In sin, people claim mastery of their own lives, turn against God and other people, and become exploiters and despoilers of the world.  They lose their humanity in futile striving and are left in rebellion, despair, and isolation.  All people fall under God’s judgment.  In love, God took on himself judgment and shameful death in Jesus Christ, to bring everyone to repentance and new life. (9.12-9.14)

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER (Page 16, Traditional)

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.  Amen.
