ST. ANDREW'S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

WE WELCOME YOU TO OUR SERVICE OF WORSHIP THIS MORNING

St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church lives to celebrate God’s love through worship, seek God’s truth through education, and share God’s gifts through mission and fellowship.  We encourage you to join us in the Fellowship Hall for a time of coffee, cookies and fellowship following the morning service.  All who profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are welcome to join St. Andrew's.  If you have no church home, we invite you to consider uniting with us as we seek to faithfully serve our Lord.  Speak to an usher or the Pastor at the close of the service to learn more.

BRINGING THE LIGHT OF CHRIST INTO THIS ROOM

*CALL TO WORSHIP

ALL:  (Hymn 302, verse 1) I danced in the morning when the world was begun, And I danced in the moon and the stars and the sun, And I came down from heaven and I danced on the earth; At Bethlehem I had My birth.  Dance, then, wherever you may be; I am the Lord of the Dance, said He, And I’ll lead you all, wherever you may be, And I’ll lead you all in the dance, said He.

ONE:  We lift our souls to the Lord, who leads the humble and teaches them the Way.

ALL:  God makes the Way known to us, and teaches us the path to take.

ONE:  God’s paths are steadfast love and faithfulness.

ALL:  God is the source of our salvation; we wait for God all day long.  Let us look to God!

*HYMN  376               “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling”

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON

O God, we know we have failed to live in the light of Your covenant.  You set Your rainbow above us, yet clouds of unbelief darken our days.  Distrust wells up within us; fear, not hope, is our watchword.  Christ asks us to follow, but we are slow to obey.  In Your great mercy, renew us and bring us back to life in Christ Jesus.

* AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (From The Confession of 1967)

The reconciling act of God in Jesus Christ exposes the evil in people as sin in the sight of God.  In sin, people claim mastery of their own lives, turn against God and other people, and become exploiters and despoilers of the world.  They lose their humanity in futile striving and are left in rebellion, despair, and isolation.  All people fall under God’s judgment.  In love, God took on himself judgment and shameful death in Jesus Christ, to bring everyone to repentance and new life.  (9.12-9.14)
