ST. ANDREW'S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

WE WELCOME YOU TO OUR SERVICE OF WORSHIP THIS MORNING

St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church lives to celebrate God’s love through worship, seek God’s truth through education, and share God’s gifts through mission and fellowship. We encourage you to join us in the Fellowship Hall for a time of coffee, cookies and fellowship following the morning service. All who profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are welcome to join St. Andrew's. If you have no church home, we invite you to consider uniting with us as we seek to faithfully serve our Lord.  Speak to an usher or the Pastor at the close of the service to learn more.

BRINGING THE LIGHT OF CHRIST INTO THIS ROOM

*CALL TO WORSHIP

ALL:  (Hymn 40, verse 1)  Joy to the World! the Lord is come:  Let earth receive her King:  Let every heart prepare Him room, And heaven and nature sing, And heaven and nature sing, And heaven and heaven and nature sing.

ONE:  As a deer longs for flowing streams, our souls long for God.

ALL:  Our souls thirst for God, for the living God.

ONE:  Others may laugh at us because we trust God to give us direction.

ALL:   Even when we are cast down with oppression, yet shall we trust in God.

ONE:  Come now!  Let us again turn our attention to the Lord, our help and our God!                                                                                          (From Psalm 42)

*HYMN  262         “God of the Ages, Whose Almighty Hand”

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Eternal God, have mercy upon us, for we know we burden You with our sin.  We are dedicated to seeking our own fortunes.  We do not live by faith, but by our own resources.  We do not bring You our offerings; we seldom make sacrifices; we rarely praise You so others can hear.  Forgive our quest for security at all costs, and help us commit our lives to You alone.

         *SILENT PRAYER

        *ASSURANCE OF GOD’S PARDON

       *GLORIA PATRI (Hymn 579)

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.

World without end! Amen, Amen.

* AFFIRMATION OF FAITH  (from A Brief Statement of Faith, 1991)

In life and in death we belong to God.  Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel , whom alone we worship and serve.  We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God, [who] proclaimed the reign of God.  We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba, Father.  In sovereign love God created the world good and makes everyone equally in God’s image.  We trust in the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life.  With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER (Page 16, Traditional)

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.  Amen.
