BRINGING THE LIGHT OF CHRIST INTO THIS ROOM

*CALL TO WORSHIP

    ALL:  (Hymn 40, verse 1)

               Joy to the World! the Lord is come: Let earth receive her King: Let                    every heart prepare Him room, And heaven and nature sing, And                        heaven and nature sing, And heaven and heaven and nature sing  

    ONE: It is good to sing praises to God!  God is gracious, and a song of praise is

               fitting.

    ALL:  The Lord is great and powerful; God’s understanding is beyond 

               measure.

    ONE: Let us sing to the Lord with thanksgiving, making melody with our                

               instruments.

    ALL: God delights in those who are filled with God’s steadfast love.  Let

               us turn to God!                                                                (from Psalm 47)

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON

      O God, who heals the sick and binds up the brokenhearted, we need Your 

      help!  When we inflict pain, when we bear grudges, when we seek revenge,

      show us a better way!  When we judge another as inferior for failing to meet 

      our standards, when we determine some to be unworthy of our respect and 

      support, forgive us!  As Jesus had compassion upon all who were afflicted, 

      may we follow his example, for it is through Him that we live, and move, and 

      have our freedom.
