BRINGING THE LIGHT OF CHRIST INTO THIS ROOM

*CALL TO WORSHIP

ALL:  (Hymn 104 Verse 1)  Christ is risen!  Shout Hosanna!  Celebrate this day of days!  Christ is Risen!  Hush in wonder:  All creation is amazed.  In the desert all surrounding, See, a spreading tree has grown.  Healing leaves of grace abounding Bring a taste of love unknown.

ONE:  The Lord is our Shepherd; we shall never be in want.

ALL:  The Lord provides the food and the rest we need.

ONE:  God anoints our heads with oil; our cups overflow.

ALL:  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives; and we will live in God’s realm forever!                        (From Psalm 23)

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Merciful God, in raising Jesus You created a new people who share common life, witness, prayer and belongings.  Yet we confess that we are afraid to risk our selves and our belongings to continue Your new world.  We are sometimes even afraid to pray honestly with each other.  Forgive us, God!   Recreate us with Your Spirit.  Give us new energy to build community, peace and justice in our world.

In life and in death we belong to God.  Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve.  We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God, [who] proclaimed the reign of God.  We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba, Father.  In sovereign love God created the world good and makes everyone equally in God’s image.  We trust in the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life.  With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
