ST. ANDREW'S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

WE WELCOME YOU TO OUR SERVICE OF WORSHIP THIS MORNING

St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church lives to celebrate God’s love through worship, seek God’s truth through education, and share God’s gifts through mission and fellowship. We encourage you to join us in the Fellowship Hall for a time of coffee, cookies and fellowship following the morning service. All who profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are welcome to join St. Andrew's. If you have no church home, we invite you to consider uniting with us as we seek to faithfully serve our Lord.  Speak to an usher or the Pastor at the close of the service to learn more.

BRINGING THE LIGHT OF CHRIST INTO THIS ROOM

*CALL TO WORSHIP

ALL:  (Hymn 210, verse 1)  Our God, our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come, Our shelter from the stormy blast, And our eternal home.

ONE:  The Lord is our light and our salvation.  Whom shall we fear?

ALL:  The Lord is the stronghold of our lives.  Of whom shall we be afraid?

ONE:  One thing we asked of the Lord – to live in the house of the Lord forever.

ALL:  We seek the face of the Lord!  Let us set aside the cares of our lives, and turn to God alone in this hour.                                (From Psalm 27)

*HYMN  138                       “Holy, Holy, Holy”

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Beloved God, whose mercy is everlasting and whose grace endures forever, look with favor upon us as we confess our sin.  We appreciate self-glory; we encourage vain pursuits; we worship the idols of our own desires.   Lift our minds from the common things of our daily lives, so we can glimpse a vision of Your heavenly life.  Forgive our shortsighted behavior, and reconcile us through Jesus to Your eternal will.

*SILENT PRAYER

*ASSURANCE OF GOD’S PARDON

*GLORIA PATRI (Hymn 579)

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.

World without end! Amen, Amen.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from A Brief Statement of Faith, 1991)

In life and in death we belong to God.  Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve.  We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God, [who] proclaimed the reign of God.  We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba, Father.  In sovereign love God created the world good and makes everyone equally in God’s image.  We trust in the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life.  With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
