ST. ANDREW'S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

WE WELCOME YOU TO OUR SERVICE OF WORSHIP THIS MORNING

St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church lives to celebrate God’s love through worship, seek God’s truth through education, and share God’s gifts through mission and fellowship. We encourage you to join us in the Fellowship Hall for a time of coffee, cookies and fellowship following the morning service. All who profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are welcome to join St. Andrew's. If you have no church home, we invite you to consider uniting with us as we seek to faithfully serve our Lord.  Speak to an usher or the Pastor at the close of the service to learn more.

Greeter:  Richard Wilson

Ushers:  Bob and Jan Talbott

Acolyte:  Joey Wilcox

Liturgist:  Rev. Rodgers Spencer

Coffee Hosts:  Lew and Edna Sullivan

*Opportunities to stand

GREETINGS, CONCERNS OF THE CHURCH AND REGISTRY OF ATTENDANCE

PRELUDE                            “Jesus, Blessed Jesus”                                       Gabriel

BRINGING THE LIGHT OF CHRIST INTO THIS ROOM

*CALL TO WORSHIP

ALL:  (Hymn 464, verse 1) Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee, God of glory, Lord of love; Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee, opening to the sun above.  Melt the clouds of sin and sadness; Drive the gloom of doubt away; Giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day.

ONE:  Happy are those who take delight in the law of the Lord.

ALL:  They are like trees planted by streams of water.  In all that they do,  they prosper.

ONE:  For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous.

ALL:  May our ways be righteous as we look to God for our instruction.

*HYMN  469                        “Morning Has Broken”

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Forgive our vain repetitions, O God, for our deeds do not match our words of belief.  We mouth pious slogans, but fail to correct injustice.  We claim to be righteous, but reject others.  We glory in Your gifts that bring success and comfort, yet we deny neighbors their own right to prosper.  Help us to work for justice for all people, and forgive our failure to translate faith into action.

*SILENT PRAYER

*ASSURANCE OF GOD’S PARDON

*GLORIA PATRI (Hymn 579)

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.

World without end! Amen, Amen.

*HYMN INSERT           “Come and Find the Quiet Center”

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from A Brief Statement of Faith, 1991)

In life and in death we belong to God.  Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve.  We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God, [who] proclaimed the reign of God.  We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba, Father.  In sovereign love God created the world good and makes everyone equally in God’s image.  We trust in the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life.  With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER (Page 16, Traditional)

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.  Amen.

PRESENTATION OF OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS

OFFERTORY                       “More Love To Thee”                                         Doane

*DOXOLOGY (Hymn 592) AND PRAYER OF DEDICATION

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

*HYMN    “Give to the Winds Your Fears (Tune: Crown Him with Many Crowns)”

Give to the winds your fears; hope and be undismayed;

God hears your sighs and counts your tears, God shall lift up your head.

Through waves and clouds and storms God gently clears your way;

Wait patiently; so shall this night soon end in joyous day.

Live to God’s sovereign sway to choose and to command;

So shall you, wondering, own God’s way.  How wise, how strong God’s hand!

On God the Lord rely, and safe you shall go on;

Fix on God’s work your steadfast eye, so shall your work be done.

*THE CHARGE AND THE BENEDICTION

*CARRYING THE LIGHT OF CHRIST INTO THE WORLD

*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE

And the peace of God, that passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts, shall keep your minds on Jesus Christ.
