ST. ANDREW'S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

WE WELCOME YOU TO OUR SERVICE OF WORSHIP THIS MORNING

St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church lives to celebrate God’s love through worship, seek God’s truth through education, and share God’s gifts through mission and fellowship. We encourage you to join us in the Fellowship Hall for a time of coffee, cookies and fellowship following the morning service. All who profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are welcome to join St. Andrew's. If you have no church home, we invite you to consider uniting with us as we seek to faithfully serve our Lord.  Speak to an usher or the Pastor at the close of the service to learn more.

Ushers:  Larry and Anna Mark

Acolyte:  David Ross

Liturgist:  Rev. Rodgers Spencer

Coffee Hosts:  Anne Spitzmiller and Irma Burton

BRINGING THE LIGHT OF CHRIST INTO THIS ROOM

*CALL TO WORSHIP

ALL:  (Hymn 464, verse 1) Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee, God of glory, Lord of love; Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee, opening to the sun above.  Melt the clouds of sin and sadness; Drive the gloom of doubt away; Giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day.

ONE:  We give thanks to God for steadfast love and faithfulness!

ALL:  When God calls, and we answer, God increases our strength.

ONE:  Even though we walk through trouble, God stretches out a hand to guide us.

ALL:  God’s steadfast love endures forever.  Let us turn to God in this hour.

*HYMN  417       “Christ Is Made the Sure Foundation”

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Oh God, we know the story of Jesus, yet we don’t often act as if it has affected us.  So much time has passed since He lived, and died, and rose again that we too often take Him for granted.  Fill us with the awe and gratitude that filled the first disciples.  Help us to use our lives in a way that reflects the love He had for all people, for it is in Him that we live and move and have our being.

*SILENT PRAYER

*ASSURANCE OF GOD’S PARDON

*GLORIA PATRI (Hymn 579)

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.

World without end! Amen, Amen.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from A Brief Statement of Faith, 1991)

In life and in death we belong to God.  Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve.  We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God, [who] proclaimed the reign of God.  We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba, Father.  In sovereign love God created the world good and makes everyone equally in God’s image.  We trust in the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life.  With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
