ST.
ANDREW’S
CELEBRATING 50 YEARS Ash Wednesday 1955 – Ash Wednesday 2005
St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church is an appropriate name.
Andrew, before he entered the Apostleship, went at once in search of
his brother Peter and brought him to Jesus.
This we propose to do also—to bring our brother to Jesus in the St.
Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.
Furthermore, in the year 740 A. D. Andrew was made the patron saint of
Our symbol, the St. Andrews Cross appeared with the eleven other
symbols wherever the Apostles were so designated.
We have chosen the symbol of St. Andrew to designate the new church.
It is an X-like cross, the four ends of which touch the edges of the
shield. According to legend, Saint
Andrew died in

Mission
Statement St.
Andrew’s Presbyterian Church As a caring and compassionate community of
believers, our mission is to provide an active witness to the fact that God is
very much alive and at work in our lives and remains central to our existence.
As Christ’s body, our church is called to proclaim the gospel and,
through the power of the Holy Spirit, to make disciples, inviting and
encouraging people to become followers of Jesus and to grow spiritually,
emotionally, and theologically on the journey of faith. We are compelled to demonstrate our love and
Christian values by providing comfort, aid, and support not only to our
members, but to those outside of our church walls.
These activities manifest themselves in our faithful involvement in
serving those who are suffering and hungering both spiritually and physically.
Our focus remains on identifying needs and developing programs to meet
these areas of concern. These
things we do while giving all glory and honor to God. |
