ST. ANDREW'S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

WE WELCOME YOU TO OUR SERVICE OF WORSHIP THIS MORNING!

We encourage you to join us in the Fellowship Hall for a time of food and fellowship following the morning service.  All who profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are welcome to join St. Andrew's.  If you have no church home, we invite you to consider uniting with us as we seek to faithfully serve our Lord.  Speak to an usher or the Pastor at the close of the service to learn more.

CALL TO WORSHIP: (adopted from Psalms)

   ONE:      This is the day that the Lord has made.  Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

   ALL:      We rejoice with those who said; “Let us go to the house of the Lord.”

   ONE:      We praise you, O Lord our God, with all our heart;

O God of all creation, You trust us as stewards of Your world, but we confess our abuse of what You place in our care.  We foul the water and pollute the air; we burn the forests and poison the oceans.  Forgive our neglect of nature’s delicate balance, and have mercy upon us as we renew our commitment to Your created order, in Jesus’ name.

MOMENT OF SILENT REFLECTION

WE RESPOND TO GOD’S WORD

*HYMN  344                           “Christ of the Upward Way”

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from A Brief Statement of Faith, 1991)

In life and in death we belong to God.  Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel , whom alone we worship and serve.  We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God, [who] proclaimed the reign of God.  We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba, Father.  In sovereign love God created the world good and makes everyone equally in God’s image.  We trust in the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life.  With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER (Page 16, Traditional)

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.  Amen.
